· South East: West Sussex Drive with a Nautical Theme ·
I have put together a run around West Sussex which will start at the Blubeckers Restaurant on the old A23 with [optional]lunch from 1230hrs] for a drive through West Sussex, heading West towards Chichester Harbour via Petworth, Goodwood Racecourse and Bosham Harbour and Quay. We will stop at Bosham to explore this delightful village and then continue around Chichester Harbour to West Itchenor, where we will join our Chartered Boat [ Wingate 111] for an evening Tour around Chichester Harbour! I have limited the event to 15 cars due to possible limited parking at the stops. I need to know the numbers of people who would like to come, in order to book the Charter with the Boat Company and settle the time of the booking. The minimum number to Charter the boat is 25 people. There are Pay & Display Car Parks @ Bosham & West Itchenor, but parking space could be limited – hence the 15 car limit. I will need to ask for payment of between £5- £6.50 per person when I know how many want to go on the boat trip. The Charter fee is £125. If you would like to come, [color=red]can you please send me an email to paulclea@gmail.co as soon as possible, but by 24th May at the latest, so I can confirm the Charter Hire of the boat. ________________________________________________________ WEST SUSSEX DRIVE – WITH A NAUTICAL THEME! · South East: PLUMPTON RACES LADIES DAY ·
LADIES DAY AT PLUMPTON RACES        21ST SEPTEMBER 2008IF YOU ARE NOT COMING ON THE DAY TRIP TO YPRES THEN PERHAPS YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO TO LADIES DAY AT PLUMPTON.And now for something completely different… a chance for the ladies to show off as well as the cars. Plumpton Races Ladies Day, whether you like a flutter or simply come to watch the spectacle. The Event MX-5 Plumpton Races Ladies Day – 21st September 2008 Come for a fun day out atEvery year Plumpton Races (nr Lewes, East Sussex) holds a Ladies Day, where ladies are encouraged to dress up in their finest. Ladies who dress up and wear a hat get in free; everyone else pays £10.00 each. There is a competition for the best dressed lady (nothing for the cars).Other than ladies who want to be part of the event, there is no enforced dress code. This is quite an informal race track and not as grand as Ascot or Newmarket. Here is Jo (on right) and friends in 2007:  We will all park together on grass near the track where we can watch the races and picnic. Meeting UpAs people can come from such a wide area to get to Plumpton, there is no organised drive. So you are free to make your own way there or team up with local friends for a run through the lovely Sussex lanes. To enable us all to park together we will meet at a pub in Plumpton and then drive together into the track. For a larger number there is a possibility that we can have a roped off area to ourselves and everyone can make their own way to the course. So please let us know if you would like to join us so that we can make the appropriate arrangements. We’ll let you know the arrangements nearer the time.  We aim the meet up at 12:30. What to Do on the DayThe first race is at 2 p.m.Following the picnic you can pay a small fee to cross the track to the Grand Stand area were you can stand and watch the races, watch the horses in the  parade ring or just simply people-watch.To cross the track, ladies may want to wear flat-heeled shoes as it would be difficult in stilettos  See http://www.plumptonracecourse.co.uk/ for details. Address Plumpton RacecoursePlumpton, East SussexBN7 3AL PLEASE CONTACT KEITH AND JO ON THIS ONE AS MARTYN AND SARAH WILL BE ON THE DAY TRIP TO YPRES.We look forward to hearing from you. Keith & Jo VisserKeith.visser@btinternet.com 01342 32875107976 297 437
